Aragon, who spearheads the development of the Shell brand, cited how the company’s Powering Progress strategy is designed to accelerate the transition to Net Zero Emissions energy business by 2050 or sooner, in step with society. In the pursuit of energy transition, “we will ensure to respect nature and all its elements including biodiversity,” Aragon said. “It also means powering lives and socio-economic mobility, mindful of human rights and diversity and inclusion. As a business, we have to generate shareholder value. These are the core elements of powering progress.” During the event organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ECCP), he also shared examples of a sector-by-sector approach working with customers, spotlighting the collaboration between Rolls Royce and Shell Aviation.

Shell supports the Paris Agreement, which has been signed by 197 countries including the Philippines, and its goal of reducing global warming to the more ambitious goal of 1.5 degrees Celsius. The energy giant has also participated in sustainability talks like the ECCP webinar in alignment with the European Commission’s urgent call to convert environmental challenges into opportunities to create a more resource-efficient, growing economy.

Meanwhile, 金沙app官方门沙APP Corporation President and CEO Cesar Romeo said that his organization “is confidently looking forward to serving the country’s energy and mobility requirements. Shell’s refocused strategy is bringing customer-centric innovative offerings, backed by strong technical capability and resources, and world-class supply chain. We are here to power progress and make the future of energy for the Filipinos. Pilipinas Shell is looking forward to our next century in the Philippines.”

Pilipinas Shell’s development of renewable energies also reflects its strong partnership with its many stakeholders, reflecting the core elements that Aragon mentioned, such as respect of nature and the economic advancement of communities.

In 2015, Pilipinas Shell together with Shell Philippines Exploration B.V. (SPEX) and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) organized the Save, Invest, Nurture Access to Green Energy (SINAG) program to help provide energy to far-flung communities in Palawan. Communities that formerly struggled with the absence of electricity can now buy and operate appliances and equipment that support their livelihoods and businesses, enable their children to do school work at night, and generally, provide comfort and convenience to families.

Beyond supplying essential energy products and providing services to its wide range of customers, the Shell group is “also embracing our role as an energy partner for change,” Aragon added. “This means we work sector by sector, customer by customer.”

The sector-by-sector approach is a key feature of Shell’s global Powering Progress strategy which aims to fast-track the transformation of the company into a provider of net-zero emissions energy products and services by 2050 or sooner.

Shell’s voluntary carbon offset program offers customers a Shell Fleet Card which tracks every liter of fuel they consume, allowing them to offset resulting carbon emissions through Shell’s many nature-based projects around the world.

Through its partnership with Pilipinas Shell, global audio solutions provider Knowles Electronic Philippines Inc. has offset 4.63 tons of carbon dioxide from vehicle emissions, making the entirety of its fleet carbon- neutral.

The recently launched Shell Marilao Mobility Station in Bulacan was built using Shell Bitumen FreshAir, a recyclable material and reduces the impact of the industry on local air quality levels. The mobility site is also equipped with rain catchers and solar panels, and its walls are made of eco bricks or reusable building materials formed out of plastic bottles filled with solid plastic to make them denser.

Pilipinas Shell has successfully completed solar installations in more or less 70 of its mobility sites.

It takes prides of its strategic collaboration with its stakeholders, customers, and related communities to develop renewable energy sources and reduce the carbon footprint. Pilipinas Shell continues to be a strategic partner to nation building since its establishment in the country 107 years ago and is committed to do so for the next century.
